PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Sage 50 Company Rebuilding & Data Optimization

Start fresh with appropriate company records and beginning balances, or get help with errors, inconsistent data, and performance problems in your existing company.

Help with your Sage 50 company data

PCO Consulting helps businesses rebuild a Sage 50 US Edition company with beginning balances and the information needed to continue working, without bringing forward years of unnecessary historical transactions.

Your customer, vendor, inventory, and chart of accounts records are retained unless you specifically request otherwise. We also review beginning balances and discuss whether open invoices, unpaid bills, purchase orders, and sales orders can be included in your project.

PCO also diagnoses and repairs problems within an existing Sage 50 company and reviews data and performance issues. Our Sage 50 certified consultants help you determine which service fits your situation.

How PCO can help

  • Company rebuilding: Start a new Sage 50 company with beginning balances.
  • Retain core records: Keep customers, vendors, inventory, and your chart of accounts unless you request otherwise.
  • Review open transactions: Evaluate outstanding invoices, unpaid bills, purchase orders, and sales orders for inclusion.
  • Data assessment and repair: Investigate errors and inconsistencies in your existing company.
  • Backup verification and data validation: Review backups and check key records, balances, and reports.
  • Performance review and optimization: Identify contributing issues and discuss appropriate improvements.

Two Ways We Can Help With Your Sage 50 Data

Sage 50 Company Rebuilding

A company rebuild creates a new Sage 50 company using your retained customer, vendor, inventory, and chart of accounts records, beginning balances, and necessary open transactions that can be included within the agreed scope.

This approach lets you start from an agreed date without carrying forward unnecessary historical transactions. We review the information you need, what can be transferred, and what may require additional setup or entry.

Sage 50 Data Repair & Optimization

This service focuses on your existing company. PCO investigates data inconsistencies, unexpected balances, recurring errors, and performance problems, then discusses appropriate repair or optimization work.

Not every problem requires a company rebuild. Software settings, hardware, network conditions, and data issues can produce similar symptoms. We assess the cause before recommending an approach.

What Information Can Be Retained During a Rebuild?

A standard company rebuild retains your customer, vendor, inventory, and chart of accounts records unless you request otherwise. If the original data is damaged or incomplete, we’ll review any limitations with you before proceeding.

  • Chart of accounts: Account records and the structure used for your financial reporting.
  • Customers and vendors: Records needed for ongoing business.
  • Inventory: Your inventory item records.

We also assess and agree on the following information for your rebuild:

  • Jobs: Relevant job records and beginning information.
  • Beginning balances: Appropriate account, customer, vendor, inventory, and job balances as of the agreed starting date, including applicable inventory quantities and values.
  • Open transactions: Open customer invoices, unpaid vendor bills, purchase orders, and sales orders, where feasible.

The transfer or setup of these additional items depends on your Sage 50 version, the condition of the source data, and the agreed project scope. Some information may require setup or manual entry rather than a direct transfer. We discuss those requirements before the work begins.

More About This Service

When to consider a company rebuild

A rebuild may be worth considering when you want to start a new company with beginning balances and selected records while leaving older transaction history behind. It may also be an option when your current company needs changes that are better handled through a fresh setup. We review your goals and data before recommending a rebuild.

Assessment and backup verification

We begin with your Sage 50 or Peachtree version, how you use the software, and what you want to accomplish. For repair work, we also review the symptoms, error messages, and recent changes. Before making changes, we review available backups and verify a working copy. Suspected data damage is assessed before information is transferred.

Rebuilding and transferring company information

We agree on the starting date, company records, beginning balances, and open items needed in the new company. PCO then creates the new company and transfers or sets up the information included in the project. Historical transactions outside the agreed scope remain in the original company rather than being carried into the rebuild.

Data repair and performance review

For an existing company, we investigate the affected records, reports, and workflows. Depending on the findings, the work may involve data repair, configuration changes, or recommendations addressing software, hardware, or network conditions. We explain what can reasonably be corrected and whether a rebuild should be considered.

Testing, verification, and transition

Before you begin using the rebuilt or repaired company for daily work, we review the key balances, records, and reports included in the project. For a rebuild, this includes checking beginning balances and agreed open items against the source information. We also discuss the transition date, staff checks, backups, and access to the original company for historical reference.

Common Questions

Can I rebuild without years of historical transactions?

Yes. A Sage 50 company rebuild can start with appropriate records and beginning balances without bringing forward years of historical transactions. We agree on the starting date and review any open items needed for ongoing work.

Can customer, vendor, inventory, and chart of accounts records be retained?

Yes. A standard company rebuild retains your customer, vendor, inventory, and chart of accounts records unless you request otherwise. If the original data is damaged or incomplete, we’ll review any limitations with you before proceeding.

What about payroll, assemblies, and other company settings?

Some Sage 50 companies use additional features such as payroll, inventory assemblies, jobs, custom reports, and specialized company settings. These may require additional attention during a rebuild. We review how your company uses Sage 50, determine what needs to be retained, and discuss any additional setup or transfer requirements before beginning the work.

What happens to my original company?

The rebuild creates a separate company. Your original company and backups should be retained for historical reference. We discuss how you will access that information; opening it later requires a compatible software environment.

Will rebuilding improve performance?

A rebuild may improve performance when accumulated historical data or company-specific issues contribute to slowdowns. Results depend on the cause. Hardware, network conditions, software configuration, and other factors may also need attention.

Can PCO work with older Peachtree versions?

PCO works with Sage 50 and legacy Peachtree data. Tell us your edition and version so we can assess the available rebuilding or repair options. Older versions may have additional limitations or compatibility requirements.

Does slow software always mean damaged data?

No. Slow performance can also result from hardware, network conditions, software settings, or other factors. We review when the slowdown occurs and which tasks are affected before recommending data work.

Can every file be repaired?

Not every file can be repaired successfully. The available options depend on the damage, the information that can be recovered, and available backups. We discuss the findings and practical next steps before proceeding.
